Oct 08 Our community park has "matured" - some would say "aged" with luxuriant growth in the greenspace, which has been uncontrolled by mowing because of the council's recent policy of reducing maintenance costs. However they have at least continued to create and keep clear grass paths between the benches so that you can walk around the area in relative comfort. And - anothe rpiece of good news - safety rails on the steepeest parts of the made-up paths are to be installed within 2-3 months.

June 07 With the bridge built and the path freshly laid this is how the area behind the health centre looks now.

22 Dec 06 Good News! We've succeeded in gaining more support to develop the public area off Coronation Road in 2007.

Aberdeen Countryside Project will help us to plant out some areas with native species trees and wildflowers to give year round colour and variety, and to maintain the "wooded look" which is presently mainly provided by the mature woodland in the grounds of Priory Hill - but won't always be there unless renewed.

There will be two areas, both at the top of the slope so as not to interfere with youngsters' winter sledging. Area 1 is behind the Health Centre Car Park, while Area 2 is in two small parts opposite the new bridge behind 47-71 Coronation Rd.
The trees planted will be either half standard (about 4 ft high) or "whips" (about 2 ft high). They will need many years to mature, and in neither case will they affect the light in the gardens of neighbouring houses. In both areas we plan to locate benches from which visitors can admire the view.

Eventually these areas will be linked by a network of paths when funding permits. In the first instance however path building will focus on access to the new bridge.

We need to plant the trees while they are still dormant - that is by end March. The areas have been marked out on the ground with yellow paint and canes. You can also get an impression of where they are by opening the attached files. All comments gratefully received, Just use the contact details on this site.
