In the last two years with the help of our members and sponsors we have:

  1. Obtained and planted out 30 containers on North Deeside Rd, Malcolm Rd and at the old station
  2. Arranged for 24 hanging baskets on lamp posts
  3. Introduced an"adopt a basket for £10" scheme taken up by 10 householders on North Deeside Rd
  4. Planted over 5,000 daffodils, crocuses, snowdrops and bluebells
  5. Enhanced the approach to the War Memorial area with bulbs,shrubs and a tree
  6. Gained the commitment of the City Council to create in 2005 a floral "City Gateway" with roses, trees and bulbs at Rob Roy Bridge
  7. Planted 15 native species trees (birch, rowan,bird cherry) in prominent locations around the village
  8. Sourced bulbs and obtained help from the Guides to plant crocuses in front of the church
  9. Planted wildflowers along Lover's Walk by the Dee
  10. Initiated a project to provide a more varied environment and improve public access to the open land off Coronation Road.
  11. Raised around £4000 from local subscription by organisations, businesses and personal donors to fund our work

We have also raised the profile of Culter in Bloom by attending the Horticultural Society Annual Show and placing displays of our work in the library, and lobbied the Arts & Recreation Department for further assistance from the City Council to improve the local environment.

Our work has been recognised by the award of a Certificate of Merit from Beautiful Scotland in Bloom - you can see it displayed in the village library.
